SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

One of our staff members, Sophie Lockhart, is a trained Spiritual Director through the School of Sustainable Faith. Spiritual Direction is a form of soul care centered on prayer, holy listening, and one’s experience of the presence of God. Spiritual Directors are companions who come alongside people as they explore and deepen their spiritual life.

THE BENEFITS OF SPIRITUAL DIRECTION (copied from Soul Shepherding website)

Spiritual direction can be helpful in many aspects of everyday life including:

  • Experiencing God’s love

  • Empathy for personal and relational difficulties

  • Spiritually caring for children

  • Engaging in soul talks with your spouse

  • Praying for a hurting friend

  • Discerning God’s leading

  • Care and guidance in a Dark Night of the Soul

  • Becoming more effective in your ministry or work

Below you will find links to some resources often used in Spiritual Direction sessions, such as Examen, Rule of Life, and Lectio Divina. Incorporating these practices into your spiritual disciplines and/or Journey Groups can be incredibly formational!

Contact Sophie below for more information about meeting with her for Spiritual Direction one on one or in a small group setting (will be offered again in summer 2024). She is also available to give referrals for Spiritual Directors outside of Journey.
